How to Think About the Future (As a Mama) in Uncertain Times

Updated: Feb 2, 2021

Dear Precious Mama,

Oh, to be chosen, not only chosen to follow Jesus but chosen to raise this precious little one. God has entrusted you with this marvelous gift. God tells us in Psalms 127:3, “Children are a gift from the Lord; they are a reward from Him.” God had you and only you in mind when He placed this beautiful life into your hands. It’s as if he was saying, “I love you, and here is a gift I am giving YOU.”

With this beautiful gift comes great reward, great joy, and fulfillment like nothing else. God reveals His miracles through motherhood. He loves to show Himself through our parenting experiences with our children. He has much to teach you about Himself and His love for you as you parent this child of yours.

With this beautiful gift also comes challenges and unanswered questions. However, you can be confident that the Giver of the gift will give you everything you need to love, guide, and direct the steps of this precious child of yours. Remember He loves your gift more than you do and has all the answers as you seek Him. Remember the promise He gives us in Matthew 6:33 “Seek first the kingdom of God, and all these things will be added unto you.”

Oh the extraordinary adventure of life you embark upon as you walk in the steps God has ordained for your life and the life of your child. He is faithful to keep the promise He gave us in Jeremiah 29:11. He has a plan for both our lives and the lives of our children. We stand confidently on what God told us in Psalms 139:16 that God knew our child before their birth. “Every day of their life was recorded in His book. Every moment was laid out before a single day had passed.” This verse is the reassurance that as we seek Him for direction, He is faithful to show us HIS plan for their lives and ours.

You will encounter many unknowns and unanswered questions on this sweet journey of parenting. You will not find every answer you need, nor understand the adventure that awaits. Your confidence lies in the wisdom of the Lord. He is faithful to answer when we ask and fully trust His ways. We stand firm on the promise for answers and insight in our parenting. In James 1:5, “If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.” Please know, dear mama, you have many women who have gone before you to cheer you on as you focus on Jesus, trust His Word, and move through every season of your parenting adventure. You are loved, and many are praying for you. Hebrews 12:1-2 says it beautifully, “Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great could of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders us, and the sin that so easily entangles.

And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer, and perfecter of faith…” Hebrews 12:1-2

Praying for you, dear one,

Jane Heeke
